Children's Book Council Awards 2006 Shortlist Announcement

On the Friday immediately before the start of Book Week the shortlist and honour books of the Children's Book of the Year Awards are announced. This year the announcement will take place on Wednesday 5 April at the Children's Department of Kinokuniya, The Galeries Victoria, Level 2, 500 George Street, Sydney at 11.00am.

Certificates, medallions and monetary prizes are made to the authors and illustrators of these books. To attend please rsvp to secretary@cbc.org.au

The shortlist will be available on the Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA) website www.cbc.org.au from 12.00pm on 5 April. Winners will be announced Friday 18 August.

Book Week 2006 will take place from 19th - 25th of August 2006. The theme is Book Now!

PETA will publish and send to members The PETA Guide to the Children's Book Council Awards Shortlist 2006 prepared by Ann Hanzl. This guide provides teachers with a very practical and comprehensive set of activities for each of the shortlist books. PETA members will receive this guide as a part of their membership in June 2006.
