by Kathy Gibson
Teachers have been handed an exciting opportunity in recent years. Cheaper video cameras and free editing software enable students to produce professional looking films suitable for screening at school and student film festivals. Gibson started using a video camera in class when editing software became available on new computer systems. From there it was a small step to making short films with her students. This PEN explains how to teach film making to students in primary schooling. It can form part of a class literacy program or run as a whole school program to extend students across class groups.
