Constitution

The Primary English Teaching Association (ACN 002 557 075) and its trademark e:lit is a company limited by guarantee and not having share capital. It is a not-for-profit company with income and assets applied solely to the objects of the company. The objects of e:lit and the Primary English Teaching Association are to improve the literacy and English outcomes for children by supporting the teaching of English in the community. The operations of the company are governed by a constitution.

The constitution outlines the objects of Primary English Teaching Association and the rules governing how the company functions and specifies:

  • objects of the company
  • membership and subscriptions
  • the calling and business of the Annual General Meeting
  • the election, power and duties of the Board of directors
  • office bearers and their functions
  • the running of directors meetings
  • serving of notices
